Elastic Pools (Preview) ​

Use Elastic Pools to dynamically provision virtual worker nodes out of a large bare metal server pool, enabling Cluster as a Service scenarios.

WARNING

This feature is in preview and not yet ready for productive use cases. Give us a heads up if you want to try it out.

Use Case ​

  • Large companies with many teams or MSPs want to offer many dedicated clusters to their users ("Cluster as a Service")
  • Bare Metal servers are too static and too big to be used as Kubernetes worker nodes for this scenario, requiring their resources to be sliced up in smaller workers
  • Elastic Pools leverage KubeVirt and Karpenter to dynamically create virtual worker pools out of a large bare metal server pool:
