Pin IP Addresses
INFO
To learn when to pin an address, see Subnet Addressing.
A Machine on an IPAM Subnet gets its address from Foundry in a random fashion. Pin it when something outside expects the Machine at a fixed address.
Prerequisites
- The Machine's Network Profiles use at least one Subnet with IPAM addressing.
Pin an address
- Navigate to Machines → Your Machine → Actions → Edit Machine. On a Machine that does not exist yet, pre-register it instead and fill in the same fields.
- Under IP Addresses, enable Pin IP Addresses. One row appears per IP Pool the Machine uses, labelled with the Pool and its CIDR.
- Enter an address for the Pools you want to pin. Leave a row empty to let Foundry keep picking for that Pool.
- Click Preview, then Roll out.
The Machine reboots onto the pinned address. If you pin the address it already has, it won't reboot.
Unpin an address
Switch Pin IP Addresses off to hand the address back to Foundry. The Machine will keep the IP for the time being.
