Regions & Zones
As described in the Reference Architecture, we recommend spreading your Nest Instances and Machines across different failure domains. You model this topology as Regions and Zones.
A Zone is a failure domain, such as a rack or a data center. A Region is a group of Zones close to each other, such as the data centers of one city.
Once set up, you can assign Machines and Nest Instances to a Zone. Their nodes then get two labels:
| Label | Value |
|---|---|
topology.kubernetes.io/region | The name of the Region |
topology.kubernetes.io/zone | The name of the Zone |
